About

Hi! I’m Jingyi Luna Peng. I am an actor, writer, and theatre maker born and raised in Beijing, China, and currently based in New York City.

My work explores language, migration, cultural identity, and the often awkward, impossible desire for human connection. I am interested in the ways identity is translated, performed, and sometimes distorted—through language, technology, memory, and storytelling.

Drawing from personal experience as well as contemporary media and internet culture, I create work that moves between humor and discomfort, intimacy and alienation. Much of my work is driven by a simple question: what happens when people desperately want to understand one another but never quite can?

My one-act play, She Said Fuck That’s a Pretty Giant Deep Ocean, was selected for Pan Asian Repertory Theatre’s NuWorks 2026 Festival at Theatre Row. As an actor, I have performed at The Flea, A.R.T./New York, Actors Temple Theater, AMT Theater, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

I received a BFA in Drama and Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University.
